Audrey V. Vaughan

AUDREY V. VAUGHAN, 84 Sadly, on the evening of December 8th, 2016, Audrey V. Vaughan, 84, of Ross Township, passed away. Audrey had suffered from dementia-related illnesses and finally succumbed to the disease after several months of hospitalization. Born in 1932, Audrey grew up the younger of two daughters in a close-knit family in West View, and as a young girl, enjoyed time with her friends, sang in the school choir, and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She was a bright and popular student, and a 1950 graduate of West View high school. Audrey attended University of Pittsburgh for two years, then accepted a job with Gulf Oil at age 20, working in the contracts department in the Gulf Building in downtown Pittsburgh. Audrey was a pioneer of sorts for that era, and working in a business environment for more than 20 years, she helped pave the way for career women for decades to come. Audrey enjoyed music, and played the organ for her own enjoyment, and she loved to travel. She and a dear friend of hers enjoyed traveling when they had the time, and visited many destinations such as St Moritz, Vienna, Munich, London, Banff & Hawaii. Audrey also enjoyed driving her 1970's light blue Mercury Cougar two-door coupe...she would often reminisce about how much she liked that car! Audrey worked throughout her adult life, until she retired in 1973 to take care of her 'Mother and Daddy', as she affectionately called them~ Audrey continued to live in the family home in Ross Township until 1990, when she purchased a nearby condo. She liked having family over in the summer to enjoy the swimming pool. She moved back to the family home to live with her sister, Jean Ann, in 2006. Audrey was a sweetheart, and loved by all her friends and family. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Harry J Vaughan and Ruth (Campbell) Vaughan, her brother-in-law, Gerald W Emch and her nephew, John Douglas Emch. She is survived by her dear sister, Jean Ann (Vaughan) Emch, her nephew Robert (Bob) Emch, and wife, Denise Gless, her niece, Carol (Eberle) Emch, and Carol's sons Mark Emch and Steven Emch.
